Company Information

O'Bean's 1609 Fort Street, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

In 1981 Lynne & Trevor Bennett emigrated from County Down, Ireland, to Vancouver Island on Canada's west coast and within a couple of years opened O'Bean's, a restaurant with a friendly Irish theme, in Victoria. Apart from its Irish musical evenings, O'Bean's is well known for both its stews, now available in local supermarket freezers (Irish Lamb Stew & Beef in Guinness Stew), and its Irish soda breads.

Now you can easily make the exact same bread we have been serving in our business for years.

O'Bean's has been written up in travel magazines & newspapers alike...

"CAFE TRANSFORMS ITSELF INTO IRISH PUB"

"You could be in a crowded pub in Dublin, Belfast, Galway or Cork. People are enjoying glasses of Guinness, and the sweet smells of Irish lamb stew fill the room. When JIM BRANNIGAN strums a traditional melody on his tenor guitar a silver haired diner reaches across a table shared with two other couples to hold his wife's hand and with a smile murmers, 'Just like the old days'.

"By day O'Bean's is a bustling little cafe, but, on Saturday evenings the 25-seat restaurant reverts to the Bennett family's Irish roots with traditional music & dancers between the tables. O'Bean's is a magical place." Joseph Blake , Times Colonist.

"GOSH & BEGORRAH I THINK I'LL GIVE IT A TRY !"

"In 1984, O'Bean's was born and by the look of it hasn't looked back. We tried the vegetarian split pea soup, which was delicious. Irish wheaten & soda breads add to the pleasure. And what would an Irish cafe be without Irish stew. A huge bowl for a few bucks was redolent of thyme and full of lamb, carrots, turnips and onions. For fans of Riverdance there's dinner, Irish music & dance every Saturday evening. Reservations are a must as O'Bean's is small. Well gosh & begorrah I think I'll give it a try ! " Clare Sakal , Restaurant Reviewer.
